Gone are the days of the Contiki-style pub crawls where the night begins with shots and ends in tears. We’re all grown up now and a sophisticated version – kiwi style – is where it’s at.

On the Pinot Walkabout, you’ll take in three great wine bars, enjoy a flight of New Zealand Pinot at each, all expertly matched to a signature dish by our rockstar venues.

With 45 minutes at each location, you’ll have plenty of time to sniff, swirl and sample the wines and hear a little about the region and producers we’ve selected presented by our “tour leaders”.

When our time is up, the Pinot bell will ring and the Walkabout will set off for the next venue.

Bar Liberty

Bar Liberty is an alcohol-focused bar and bistro, the brainchild of three-time Australian Sommelier of the Year Banjo Harris Plane and Michael Bascetta (both Attica-alum) who teamed up with Rockwell & Sons’ Casey Wall and Manu Potoi to open the kind of bar they like to frequent.

Bar Liberty has a bit of a thing for wine, but there’s plenty of other fermented beverages to quench your thirst. Whether you like skin contact wine, dry gin, sour beer, bitter amaro or just a magnum of champagne, they’ve got you covered.

The team believe that these should be enjoyed alongside delicious food, in a comfortable setting, accompanied by honest hospitality. Having been named as one of Australia’s Top 50 restaurants by both The Australian and the Financial Review in recent months, it seems the formula is working.


Comptoir: a French word meaning ‘bar, counter’.
Pronounced: ‘commtwah’.

Comptoir is a place where wine is top-of-mind, but food is not forgotten. Where wine will be celebrated, yet egalitarian. Where you will experience oodles of classic conviviality and a genuine sharing of the joys of wine, sans the pomp (but with a little of the ceremony).

Comptoir is a wine bar, bottle-shop and grazing place under the one roof – a place comfortable and cosy, where you’ll be looked after by someone friendly and knowledgeable.

With seasoned and awarded sommelier David Lawler previously of the Rockpool Group at your service, you can’t put a foot wrong.

The Gertrude Street Enoteca

Gertude Street Enoteca is a wine shop and wine bar created by chef/food writer/farmer Brigitte Hafner with wine importer/architect/photographer James Broadway.

The Enoteca is their spin on the classic “enoteche” you find all over Italy where the local wine shop is also a place to meet a friend, have a glass of wine, a plate of prosciutto or cheese and take home a bottle afterwards..

Their extensive wine collection celebrates artisan winemakers; wines made with minimal intervention and maximum love from all over the world with a succinct menu of wholesome food with rustic roots to match.
